The achilles tendonitis is getting bad. I suspect that no matter what
PT does, I'm not going to be walking well in six weeks. Anyone want to
fill me in on the ins and outs of those electric scooters?

If you rent them at the parks, they are $50 per day plus a refundable
$20 deposit on the key.

If you need one at the resorts too, you'll have to rent from an off
property company. It will be cheaper to do this in the long run but it
will present other obstacles such as transporting it. You will be forced
to take Disney buses.

Watch out for the pedestrian traffic - many people will step right in
front of you giving you inches to stop so you don't hit them - and
then glare at you like its your fault.

Off-site rentals are much faster than those rented from the parks.

They can be transported in a trunk of a car or in a van if you have an
able-bodied person with you who can assist with taking it apart and
putting it back together again.

Oh that sucks Caren! When we booked a wheelchair for DD, we went through
Care Medical. They delivered and picked up at the hotel. We were charged
something like $100 for 10 days. I'm sure your scooter will be more but
still reasonable.

As for navigating the parks, it's insane!! DD and I were counting how many
people were playing chicken with us. People were leaping over Amanda and I
bashed a few people in the ankles 'cuz they jumped in front of us and I
can't stop quickly pushing a 120 lb girl in a wheelchair. Crazy people!

Oh No! Best wishes for a fast & complete recovery.

I have done the wheelchair rental at the park. It was not as bad as I
expected. It helps a lot to have an adult pusher. Most guest are
considerate; but, there are too many who are not. The CMs were fine.

It may be that your health insurance will buy you a chair. The facility
that provides PT may know. When I had mobility issues requiring
treatment, the PT facility absolutely demanded that I get a four wheeled
walker with a built in seat. They nixed a chair, but were a great help
in selecting and securing a walker. (In fact, they took delivery and
inspected it before turning it over to me.) I still have it.

I have a great store of Pixie Dust. Just ask, and it will be delivered.
