From: Disney Pix on 29 Jun 2010 00:28 As a truck driver I drove I-77 out of Charlotte going to Columbus or Chicago and it is not bad in the winter most of the time. Just keep on eye on the weather and watch for snow as the WV Turnpike DOES NOT plow much until the snow has stopped. It is a great drive (even in a truck) so enjoy it. Just the fact the you will cut out Cincy & Atlanta makes the route much better than going I-75. I would imagine so. I-75 doesn't go thought Indiana... ;-) (My main complaint about Indiana on I-65, is the number of rest areas. From north of Indy to the south, there's some 125 miles where there's not highway rest area, which, I believe, violates interstate highway guidelines...) Something other than a rest area, most big truck stops (such as the Petro's) aren't bad. They're usually cleaner than the highway rest areas. >> > Bring a cooler (one that doesn't spill liquid if it get's turned over, >> > and yes, that's important) with plenty of favorite soft drinks and >> > water. You'll get really dehydrated (especially in the winter), and >> > caffeinated beverages help. If you freeze some water bottles, it'll >> > make the ice in the cooler last that much longer. >> >> We usually bring a cooler, but I don't think I would have thought to >> freeze the water bottles. Excellent idea! We bring a LOT of water. > >Freeze the water bottles. Use this instead of ice or get some blue ice >packs (they can be refrozen in the refrigerator if you have one at >WDW). Personally, I've found the blue-ice packs worthless for road trips, unless you have a freezer at every stop. They may be good for picnics, but become useless once they defrost, and eventually waste energy keeping the packs cold. (Rarely do I find a fridge on the road that has a good enough freezer to freeze the packs overnight. You're better off sticking a couple of water bottles in the freezer and get them cold...) Nothing works as good as ice to keep things really cold. That's also the reason you want a cooler than doesn't leak if it gets turned on it's side or upside down... Now, if the only cold water bottle you have is half frozen, drink all the water and pour some warm water from another bottle into it, and soon you'll have more cold water... ;-) Keane -- When stars are born, They possess a gift or two, One of them is this, They have the power to make a wish come true... -- Wishes Visit my site: http://keanespics.com
