I'm sorry, Dillon. I hope Tink carries your friend over that bridge
herself.

Toby went to the Bridge Monday afternoon. Dr. Berger talked about
some of the things we could do, change his diet, go to daily fluids,
or even more often, up his meds. Then his bloodwork came back. His
BUN and creatinine were both 10x normal. She said we could put him in
the hosptial (there's a 24 hour hosptial in Austin, now) for three or
four days of continuous IV fluids, but that might only give him 2
weeks. Or we could go home and come back in the morning. We just
choose to take care of him then. Flat out KNOWING would be worse for
us and he really didn't seem to be very happy by then.

We will miss him greatly. Ruby is doing okay, but she seems to have
become a little mopey (moopey? ). We will have his ashes back next
week some time.

Thank you all.

So sorry Dillon. Ruby may be mopey for a while. My little Gina
wouldn't eat anymore and this went on for months. Don't be surprised
if Ruby gets very quiet and has a slight personality change. Doggies
get depressed too.

Anyway, the Rainbow Bridge is sad yet very comforting if you imagine
that that's how it really is. It's so hard to let go that we
sometimes keep our friends with us for longer than we should but it
sounds like Toby knew it was time. You did the best thing for him and
he knew that he was loved.

Thanks to you for telling us. I am sure you and Carol will have happy
happy memories of Toby. Ruby will be fine. A little puppy might be
nice... I suggest you name it Kevin. I like that name. You know from Up.

I'm so sorry. I can imagine how difficult it was for you.
