We are going to the world next month and I just wondered what everyone else
uses for currency at the world.

We have always purchased American Express travelers cheques to use on all
our vacations. I like the fact I am protected, but they are also like cash.

However, I heard someone say that a lot of places will no longer accept
TC's. Has anyone ran into that at WDW?

I have my CC or debit card to use just in case, but for spending money and
to be able to get some cash (I.e.: cash a TC at the hotel) , I'd rather use
TC's. I don't want to have to find an ATM (I don't use them at home) to be
able to get cash.

Has anyone had problems using TC's at the World or what do you use while on
vacation?

You can also go to a bank or money exchange........I'm sure a lot of
tourists from Europe need to exchange their money somewhere

I took enough cash with me to use for the Mears transportation from WDW
to Universal, and to leave tips for Mousekeeping. Other than that,
absolutely everything was credit card.

You don't mention whether your use of travelers' checks will involve
currency conversion, although I'm guessing that from your spelling of
"cheques" that it will. In that case, you might want to find out what
the conversion rate is compared to what your credit card company offers.
Don't forget to figure in any fees involved in the latter. You also need
to include in your calculations any fees for buying the checks in the
first place, if you don't get them free.

I have some travelers' checks I got years ago that I keep taking with
me on trips, but haven't actually used any for a long time. I use a
combination of credit cards and cash. For example, on my recent trip
to Canada I got a couple hundred Canadian dollars from an ATM when I
arrived in Stratford, and that lasted me until we got back to Michigan.
For the most part, I used a credit card.

I use cash and credit cards, but generally bring enough cash from
home for the trip. I used to bring a lot of cash, but found it
unnecessary.

I just find you don't need a lot of real money at WDW, everything goes
on the room card. (Or my Disney Visa card, if that gets me a
discount... :-)) It's also easier to track expenses that way.

Once I get to Florida, I generally use the safes that seem to be in
every room...

(Disclaimer: I drive. At no time does anyone else handle my luggage
or other property, so I have less of a threat of having any of my
property...transfer ownership...)
