Well, you can't be the opposite of Barry who does things the opposite
of me, and still reserve 6 months ahead. It does not compute.

I just don't plan my WDW trips around the parks or the food. I go to
WDW (mostly) to relax. There are things I want to do in any
particular park, but they're mostly things that can be done any day of
the week. So if MK is a better rainy day park than say, AK, I'll go
to MK if it's raining. Sometimes, it's just bus roulette. Hey, I'm
easy. But that sort of WDW vacationing is not conducive to dining at
the more popular places.

Besides, last December, from the time I actually had my reservations
and knew the dates I'd actually be at the World, I tried to make
dinner reservations at Boma. Tried a few times per day until I
left for the World. Nope. Nada. Of course, I didn't use the Russo
trick of trying with a different number of people in the party...

I'll usually do a couple of decent table service places a trip. But
also remember, I eat at Casey's. Some of the best food comes
out of no-name places that use hardwood smoke and have 'pig' in the
name, usually in North Carolina....

It depends what is more important to you. The current system works
well for you. however, for the many, probably majority, of people who
are more interested in rides, shows and other attractions, this system
doesn't work very well. I'm 63 and still am interested in the rides.
The last time we went, there was only one reservation we could get
that worked for us.

So as a result they didn't get our restaurant money but I guess they
don't care. Or I should say, that we would have dined at more of the
more expensive fine dining restaurants rather than at the cheaper fast
food places or elsewhere. One night we went back to Universal to eat
at Emeril's and since we were staying where we had a kitchen,
sometimes we just ate in the room.

But the restaurant situation is a negative to our going back.

What park to visit on a given day is a scientific endeavor. So many
variables to consider. I spend hours going over schedules, hours and
such.

Actually I just avoid EMH days.

Ignore logic and almost anything will compute.

I would love to do that but I am a compulsive planner. But I can
change in midstream if necessary.

Pig is good.
North Carolina is too far north for good BBQ.
Venture down to Tenn (Memphis) or Mississippi for the real thing.
