I have heard about Gates, but when you're only passing through KC,
you pick one or the other. Since Bryants is always the
"representative" KC BBQ, they got picked. The meat was sad. It
needed sauce. (And the sauces were only okay.)

Oh? Care to wager? I work on the south side of Chicago.
We had something like 40 shootings over the weekend. Nothing
like warm weather to bring 'em out...

Yes, and I'm always suspicious of those places that put sauce on it
automatically.

On the other hand, I do like to try the sauces offered. Some are very
good. Especially on some baby backs, but I usually eat my pulled pork
naked. Maybe a short road trip will be in order soon...

Ah, so you took the bait on that reference. As to wagering, no can do.
But the point is that AB's is not a great neighborhood.

As to AB being representative of KC, they seem to ride on their
notariety more than the food. They do well keeping themselves in
national spotlight, but locals don't fully concur on their being the
best.

Personally, I think they are way to salty.

It was the ribs here that actually turned me off of real BBQ for
years. I forget where it was, but I had the real stuff and realized
what I'd been missing.

And this was only 15-20 years after your memory of the place.
I suppose a lot could change in that amount of time...

I have never been in the Electric Umbrella. My wife refuses to try
Disney Pizza.

We usually eat lunch at park restaurants. (We have had some luck with
lunch time walkups - never at Canada.) We can usually get a dinner
reservation at one of the resort restaurants if we remain flexible on
time & place. Occasionally, we fail and eat outside the Disney system.
The restaurants in Celebration are a good backup.
