I went there once in 2005. I liked it a lot. I don't know what people
are looking for in a "burger bar" that they turn up their noses at
Pecos Bill.

I think it's the ambiance. I've said that I like the burgers better
in Cosmic Rays, even though it's the same burger. Maybe it's because
you can see your food. But you can't deny that it's a frozen,
processed piece of cheap meat.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I sometimes like frozen,
processed pieces of cheap meat. But I wonder who would do more
business if a Fuddruckers opened right next door...

The hamburger bun was stale, tasteless and crumbly, AND slightly damp.

The burger was thin, greasy, and the only flavor was a hint of dirty
water and an aroma similar to the bottom of your kitchen garbage can
when you're changing trash bags.

The toppings bar was an untended gloopy, burned, caked on, spilled on
wreck with nothing fresh.

Understaffed, overcrowded, overpriced, dirty, serving food made from
ingredients of the lowest possible quality.

Even the french fries don't taste good. How is that possible?

I'll go try it again next summer, just to see. I hear it's improved, so
in the spirit of fairness I will go and sample the delights.

I have eaten there a few times and yes if the park is crowded and it is
smack dab in the middle of meal time it is chaotic. But going a little
later or earlier it was not a problem finding a seat. We even sat outside a
couple of times when it was not hot. I found the burger to be just fine and
the fries the same as anywhere else on property. I prefer the toppings bar
at Cosmic Rays as they have the mushrooms and onions and cheese for the
fries.

Out of curiosity, I went to Deb's site to see how people are rating Pecos
Bill's these days. It gets a 7.45, which makes it similar to Cosmic Rays
(7.51), better than Electric Umbrella (6.66), way better than ABC
Commissary (5.44), and not as good as Flame Tree Barbecue (8.38), to name a
few.

We ate at Pecos Bills last year. We thought the burgers tasted the same as
ones we've had at Cosmic Rays, which stands to reason, because they
probably all come from the same box of frozen burgers. The taco salad was
pretty good -- not the best you'll ever have, but certainly acceptable for
a counter service place. It wasn't uncomfortably busy, but we always eat
an early lunch at WDW.
