Must be the week for rumors to rise from the dead. Read my lips "Ain't gonna
happen".
Besides all the other good answers, it won't work, if for no other reason
than the weather.

Let's see, July and August, this year and more than once before, ends up
with a string of 30-40
days over 100. With close to the humidity of Orlando. Much of the Dallas
area is in water rationing now.
But let's not forget the ice storms and days where the temp may never get
above 25. And unless you've experienced
a wet fall or spring, you really can't imagine what the rainy season is
like. Oh yeah, don't forget hail storms
that can decimate whole neighborhoods (some companies don't even insure in
Texas any more
because of them). Did I mention the location is also right at the bottom of
Tornado Alley which happen much more
regularly then hurricanes?

Sure, everyone would love to have this but . . .

Perhaps not a major airport on DFW scale but perhaps addison scale?

Not so fast...Manasas VA was already on paper until the locals vetoed
it. Another US park therefore has been seriously considered. Eisner
wanted a US themed park. They still have the blue prints to VA's
Disney. Many times Imagineers ideas die hard. They just get put off
until the future.

Take another look at the plans. Frisco is at 40% development. They are
building a second major mall on 380. The plans estimate a total
population of 250,000 and 10 high schools. YOu have major world
headquarters in Frisco and across the border in Plano.
Little Elm is growing by leaps and bounds, McKinney is expanding.
Prosper is growing. Not out of the realm of possibility to have 1
million residents within 20 miles of proposed Disney park, not to
mention the millions in Dallas ft worth.

Someday you will receive an email from me, Dillion saying I told you so
; )

I agree to an extent. Japan's main street is enclosed because of
weather problems. 100 degree weather is not pleasant but the humidity
has not been that of Orlando. It is a dryer heat and water mists cool
considerably especially with a breeze. Tornados...nothing near us in
Plano in years. OK still gets most of the tornados.

Here is a quote from the texas corridor site Dillion added:

"The current population of our state is about 22 million. By 2030,
forecasters predict we'll have as many as 36 million people who live,
work and drive in Texas. The majority will move to our urban areas,
where we simply cannot expand our existing highway system fast enough
to accommodate transportation demands. (Some cities will need 16-lane
highways or more to adequately meet their needs.) Often, where limited
room is available for expansion, the costs to purchase and relocate
businesses and homes have skyrocketed. In short, the current system of
building and funding roads will not meet Texas' needs 25 or 50 years
from now. It will take new solutions."

A major highway, the largest in the country for travel from Mexico
throughout texas. Of course it will be near Dallas. North Texas is
expanding rapidly with multiple toll roads.

Perhaps to accomodate thousands of visitors to a new Disney Park???

I swear to you that if I could live anywhere in the world, it would be
Dallas. I love the weather there, year round. I was there in late July.
It's a dry heat. :o)

I think the whole reason there isn't a Texas park and wont be one is because
it seems like the build them in major tourist areas. So Cal, Florida,
Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, soon to be Shanghai, and a proposed park that never
happened on the outskirts of DC.

Just my .02
