Well, I lived there from 1985-1989 and adored living there. I still love
going to Fort Worth, to the zoos and museums and the stockyards and Joe T.
Garcia's, I like going to Arlington to watch the Rangers (even moved near
the stadium in 1987 and went nearly every night, I'm a huge baseball nut).
I love the Park Cities in Dallas, the whole Preston Village area, my gosh
the restaurants and shopping in that area...I love pro sports, went to the
Mavs all the time, I love Northpark, love the original Neimans downtown (I
worked downtown)...what's not to love? Big concerts and shows come
there...and *for me* it's the most perfect climate, year round. My brother
lives there, on my recommendation, and he agrees...not too cold, not as hot
as where we grew up, just right! Oh yeah, and I even love country music, I
feel sure that you do not...but you can hear a lot of great live music all
over the metroplex. I loved seeing Lyle Lovett at Tommy's in Deep
Ellum...Dwight Yoakam at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth, etc...wish I could move
back but my hubby's in the refinery business, so it will be Houston at
best...but I love Houston almost as much as Dallas, just not the climate!

Believe it or not, I have friends who aren't theme park buffs. Yeah, I
know. Herasy. So Six Flags wouldn't be a draw to get them to fly here
for a visit. Once they've seen the Sixth Floor exhibit they've always
felt they've seen everything Dallas has to offer.

Oh my lordie! You make me want to reach for a big glass of water just
hearing you talk about being outside in that heat. <G> Anything more
than 99 and I'm as grumpy as I can get.

OK, you're a Texas native and not a transplant or a mere tourist. So
you see Dallas not as a outsider but as someone who has a direct,
emotional connection to the city as part of your home state. I
understand that completely.

I like a lot of the things you listed as well. As I said, there is a
lot to recomend living here. We feel it's a good life we have found in
Dallas. It's just that the things that attract a local sometimes are
hard to get people to fly from another state to share with you. Oh
well, I guess I'll have to put up with meeting them in other places
for a get together now and again. But I got to say we see things
quite differently on the "Not too hot, not too cold" area. There is a
woman here in town that has a business of home baked cookies she's
baked in her car that is sitting in the Dallas sun. That's WAY too hot
for me. As far as country music goes, I can get into it. I really like
the classic Texas Swing sounds the best. I like and respect most types
of music. Even though my most favorites are 20s, 30s and 40s jazz and
swing. Give me Duke Ellington or Ella Fitzgerald and I'm a happy man.

Now Houston. That's a city I could coax friend to visit with me. There
is a LOT going on in Houston that has a big draw for visitors. Same
with San Antonio.

Our next home will probably be in San Antonio. I hate that there's no pro
baseball. LOL. But it's my DH's company headquarters, and the ultimate
goal is the corporate office, I guess. Thanks for the conversation, I spent
42 years in TX, now it's one whole year in Delaware...the two previous years
we were in Houston, which you are right, is pretty wonderful.
