My cell phone lives in my car's glove compartment, turned off, most of
the time. I do carry it with me when hiking in adverse weather in the
winter, and also use it sometimes when away from home in the US. It has
voice mail and on the rare occasions when I turn it on, I may find a
message from a month or two before 8-)

Just a funny-looking plug that I plug the iPod's charger plug into.
Most places I go use the same one with two round prongs.

Given that you could still buy photographic glass plates more than
a century after they were 'superseded' by film I wouldnt hold
your breath.
