Another vote for POFQ. We've stayed once at Carribean, a very long time ago, and once at Coronado for my wife's convention. Coronado was Huuuuuuuuuuuuuge! In the time it takes to get from lobby to a far room, you could walk from POFQ to POR. We've also been at POR a number of times, though we always end up in the Mansions. They look like big white buildings to me, nothing too exciting about the theming. Then again, I've never been to Georgia. I've walked thru the Bayou section, which is nicely spooky at night. We like the theming and compact size of POFQ. There's occasional boat traffic on the river, which you'll also get in the Mansions of POR, but not the Bayou. Food court is fine - larger than Wilderness Lodge's little basement spot. They used to have a sit-down at POFQ, but it closed years ago (back when POR was Dixie Landings). When you're in busy season (like Easter week) POFQ runs its own bus routes, rather than sharing with POR. Slow times, there are 4 POR stops and one POFQ stop, but you never know if you're the first or last stop of the loop. Sometimes if a bus is full, it'll shortcut out to the park, leaving the last few POR stops for another bus. tom

AAACCCKKK I agree with Amanda -- if you have a good feeling about a place, go with it! CSR is very pretty and I understand the rooms were recently redone. We enjoyed staying there. Whichever you choose, you're going to enjoy it, but the one that's tugging at you is the one you should pick, no matter how many thumbs-up other hotels might get. We stayed in the Cabanas, which are between the main pool and the main building -- a bit closer to the main pool than the main building. Nice location. The Casitas, across the lake, are also between the two, but closer to the main building than the main pool. My understanding is that they tend to put conventioneers in the Casitas and families in the Cabanas. The Ranchos are at the furthest point from the main building -- long walk -- but very close to the main pool. But whichever resort you choose, know that each one has its fans. There's plenty to like about each, so go with your gut and enjoy. :-) -- Alpha

Also, there was a story about a time traveler who brings Shakespeare a copy of his collected plays. Willie, who's been dealing with time travelers his entire life, throws the book into the corner; "Ha! As if I'd ever intended for the plays to be read!" |
