Yes, and so are spare AA batteries, but I was
denied boarding on a trip to Asia (an
11 hour flight) with 6 of us in our party, all of
whom had a CD or DVD player, or a video
game, because I had the foresight to bring
along a factory-sealed 24 pack of AA's to
last the flight.

Some uppity screening agent told me it was
too many. I asked how many were allowed.
She said "4". I said fine, here are the six
people in my party, 6 x 4 = 24, what's the
problem? Well! Her nostrils flared, her eyes
glared, and she told me I couldn't bring on
ANY, and had to put them in the bin immediately
or I couldn't get on the plane. As our voices
rose, her supervisor came over, and we reached
a compromise that allowed me to take 12 batteries
on the plane, and mail the other 12 back to my
house.

When I returned back to Canada, I called Transport
Canada and asked what the limits for AA batteries
were. The puzzled agent had to ask me twice what
I was asking before she told me there are no posted
limits for AA batteries.

So what's the law, and what the screening agent will
let you get away depends entirely on the agent.

And how could that be accomplished?

I'm not a big fan of kids whose parents make no attempt to control
them but your proposal doesn't seem practical.

That's not half as interesting a question as why you're posting under
multiple aliases.

2 computers. 2 locations 2 ISPS 2 aliases.
Neither one ever said I applauded anyone and totally agreed.

Well, I can't pretend I understand the logic, but never mind.

That's true. Furthermore, you have no obligation to deny something you
haven't said - but I can't help but suspect from what you _have_ posted that
your sentiments aren't a million miles away from that quote of Agent_C's.
