Wishes, Osborne Lights. Never fails.

If I'm taping a parade in MK, I won't let any varmints in between the
rope and my monopod. I tape in Frontierland right by the bathroom
area. There's a DVC place (I think) right there, and you can set
yourself up so there's a wooden post to your left (that they hook the
rope to, and since they don't allow anyone in front of the building,
you have an unobstructed view), and I put PiC to my right as a human
shield.

There's also a bend in the roadway right there, so there's a good view
of the parade no matter which way it comes from. It is *not* a good
place for the hard ticket parades. The hard ticket parades are mostly
daytime parades done in the dark, and the lighting isn't the best.
(Though I did notice they left more lights on during the '09 Christmas
Parade...)

If you see someone there in a floppy green hat, come say hello... :-)

My usual spot is at the end of Main Street on the circle but a bit to
the left. In retro-thought being to the right would give me more of a
side view as the parade moves counter-clockwise around the circle.

And if you see a 6' 2" red-head that'll probably be me. Late October,
early November.

But I've used the circle as my vantage point and there are no ropes in
the inner circle if I recall. People will actually sit IN the street,
in front of the curb. I can't stop them from that. When the CM tells
them they can't they just back into me.

>You also need to be ready for the "But Disney is for the Children" ploy.

Uh, huh! But my money isn't paying for their child nor was my camera
originally aimed at their backs. If Disney is for the kids then the
fathers should stand in the back of the crowd holding the kids over
the people in front and the fathers can miss the parade so that their
kids benefit. At the very least it should be first come, first serve.

Really? Someone would be that obvious? Sounds more like a movie
script.

I tend to use a monopod when I tape. I guess the best thing to do is
to plant it in sight plainly enough to say, "Hey, I'm doing something
here." Maybe put up a sign, "Woman at work!"

As I get older and my knees worse, my legs are a little more unstable
but i think you said you are 6'2' which is about my height and is an
advantage. I try to just maintain my position and force them to slide
around me.

We will be there Nov 8-16th. Is that early November to you? Probably not.
BTW, school is IN here in the Atlanta Metro area. Atlanta schools don't
go back until the 23rd!
